Mud Pit
Race Day: 9am – 2pm
This role is responsible for assisting with the load in/out of the Mud Venue, which includes – setting up chairs, tables, banners, and tents, and the creation, maintenance, and clean up of the mud pit – all under the supervision of the Mud Pit Venue Lead. Keep in mind, in this role, you will get very muddy
Water Obstacle
Race Day: 10am – 5pm
This role is responsible for assisting with the load in/out of the Water Venue, which includes – setting up chairs, tables, tents, banners, and games, and loading in/out the food trucks and other vendors/sponsors – all under the supervision of the Water Venue Lead.
Market St. Merch
Race Day: 8am – 12pm OR 12pm – 5pm
This role is responsible for assisting with the load in/out of the merchandise tent and set up of merchandise at the Market Street Venue. This role also requires overseeing all purchasing of merchandise through multiple forms of payment – Venmo, Square reader, cash
Water Merch
Race Day: 10am – 5pm
This role is responsible for assisting with the load in/out of the merchandise tent and set up of merchandise at the Water Venue. This role also requires overseeing all purchasing of merchandise through multiple forms of payment – Venmo, Square reader, cash.
Market Street
Race Day: 8am – 12pm OR 12pm – 5pm
This role is responsible for assisting with the load in/out of the Market Street Venue, which includes – setting up chairs, tables, tents, banners, and games, and loading in/out of vendors/sponsors – all under the supervision of the Market Street Venue Lead.
Photographers
Race Day: Flexible Hours
This role includes documenting the action, audience, vendors, and sponsors at one or more venues of the race. We want to capture the exciting, creative, funky atmosphere that the race brings to Lowell and to highlight all the wonderful people to run and participate in the event. If you’re interested, let’s talk specifics!
Head Marshall
Pre Race Meetings & Race Day:
8am – 4pm
The Head Marshal manages the course marshals of the race, directing them, being in constant contact, and updating the Race Director as needed. The course marshals are tasked with keeping the teams on track throughout the course and maintaining a reasonable level of chaos. They are also in contact with the Rescue Crew. This human will be asked to participate in some pre-race meetings.
Course Marshals
Race Day: 8am – 4pm
Marshalls are tasked with following the race via bicycle to ensure rules are being followed by the racers, help with directing of racers and spectators on the course/venues, and help to time the race. They report to the Head Marshall for timing, breakdowns, or any other event that may occur on the course. Mandatory Uniform: Banana suits.
Bucket Brigade
Race Day: 9am – 5pm
This role hands out LKSR goodies to the crowd, collects People’s Choice votes, and collects donations. Should be done in pairs at each venue. People’s Choice voting should only happen at Mud and Water. This crew reports to the Volunteer Coordinator.
Cones Crew
Race Day: 9:30am – 5pm
This role is responsible for assisting with the set up and take down of traffic cones that play an essential role in the safety and guidance of the race – all under the supervision of the Cones Crew Lead.
